Hi, this is Jolanda
I want to help you *do* your life purpose
With twenty-five years of experience with reading tarot cards and having written several books on spiritual topics, I am now in a place in my life where I feel good about myself. I combine my writing practice with coaching women ready to embrace their soul gifts to create more abundance in their lives.
I do this by:
- Writing tarot books that help people to read tarot cards intuitively, without the fluff, and with a lot of opportunities to practice their skill;
- Doing akashic records readings in which I uncover your life purpose so you can create more flow in your life;
- Coaching women to embrace their soul gifts to manifest more abundance.
One of the things people often ask is,
“What is your story? How did you get started?”
My life story
I was born in the Netherlands in 1967. I come from a down-to-earth Protestant Dutch family where things like tarot cards or the paranormal were not discussed. Yet I felt an unlikely attraction to it. Around the age of 12, there was this radio program about the supernatural. It was exciting and scary at the same time. That is where I heard about tarot cards for the first time.
In both my paternal and maternal lines, there were many writers. It wasn’t strange to love words. I still have my first “book” – more drawings than words, written when I was six. Around that time, I asked to learn English to understand my cousins who went to school in the Netherlands and spent their weekends at our place.
I’ve always written a lot of stories and never minded having to make a paper for school. I loved those assignments.
Around 1997, I bought my first tarot deck but struggled to do helpful readings. I must admit that the first readings were underwhelming. This was because I copied the card meanings from the book. I knew that wasn’t the way, so I searched online for more information. I found a lady who taught me how to read the cards intuitively, and I quickly got the hang of it. Within a month or two, I did excellent readings. It still took two years of free readings in exchange for feedback to perfect my practice. I lived and breathed tarot during those years.
I have a strong BS radar around unnecessary woo-woo. The matter-of-fact Dutch attitude that I was raised with is responsible for that. It still forms the foundation for my readings because I want to make sure my clients take action on the reading instead of thinking and forgetting it.
Early Entrepreneurship & Authorship
When I felt ready for paid readings, I had a thriving reading practice within a year. It wasn’t difficult back then, but publishing my book certainly helped. I never meant to write a book; all I wanted was to log what I knew about tarot.
When a relatively well-known publishing company accepted the book and put it on the market, I soon noticed that I had almost no voice in the process anymore. While readers were super excited about the book, it felt like I had lost it to an outside force that could do what it wanted with it. They published several prints without my permission but within the small print (of course). This experience helped me to choose indie publishing when I decided to translate the book years later. Nobody was going to take my book away from me again.
Overwhelmed and exhausted
I still regret my decision to retire from my tarot business in 2007 because I was overwhelmed and exhausted. If anything, I want to learn that I can pause activities until they feel right again instead of throwing them away. On the contrary, it also felt so light and easy afterward.
From then on, I had several other businesses while going on a personal development journey. As an empathetic and receiving personality, I’ve always struggled with the emotions and energy of others. Over the years, I learned to become more confident. These days I love my gift and can turn it on and off without trouble.
A New Life
My life considerably improved when I met my husband and his lovely daughter. He stimulated me to follow my soul path. He never freaks out when I want to practice new reading techniques on him. I still believe I manifested him based on a letter I wrote two years before meeting him. In the letter, I exactly wrote what kind of person I was looking for. I blew the letter’s energy into the Universe and let it go. Years later, I found the letter back in an old book. He exactly was as I had imagined him.
Years later, when I had to close a business due to the financial crisis, I was burnt out and overwhelmed because I had tried to save it for too long. I decided only to choose joyful things for a while. That way, I wanted to allow myself to experiment and find something I loved doing (instead of working my butt off for things that would fail anyway).
Within a week, I bought an akashic records course. Discovering my soul gifts and soul purpose has changed my life.
My Divine Soul Gifts
On a soul level, I have two divine gifts: communication and power. It helps me to write about implementing spirituality in your life to grow as a person. I have a knack for writing, and I am a natural channel. This helps me explain who you are on a soul level and coach you on how to implement it to create more flow.
With a gift for teaching, I teach through writing. Although I always wonder why I have to do that in English (it’s not my mother tongue), I love the puzzle of building excellent sentences. I am very aware of needing an editor, but I can’t afford her for everything I write, so if you find weird sentence constructs on this website, it’s not her fault.
I follow my gut when writing. Often, I channel the first draft by (as I call it) spitting everything on paper and then editing it. Most of what I write comes from questions I have in my journey, to which I find answers.
True calling
Soon after learning how to read akashic records, I noticed nothing changed in my life. I struggled with making authentic choices. I guess it was a bit of pyre syndrome, where I took a step back when people discovered what I do.
It all came down to knowing much about it but not practicing it. But true manifestation starts when you take aligned action, which I started doing. Instead of thinking I was a natural channel, I started doing it. Instead of “writing for fun,” I decided to publish it in a grown-up way (meaning I would also market it). I figured that if I wanted to be an example for my clients, I at least had to live my akashic record.
I also saw that I needed to take my place in the spotlight (ew!) to give my books the release they deserve. Since then, I have noticed more easily when I choose strategies that are not aligned. It allows me to change direction immediately and do things “my way” [enter Frank Sinatra].
Because of this, I changed my services from single one-off readings to a coaching program. What good is knowing who you are if you’re not doing it?

I hope my story inspires you to choose alignment over what you were taught when you were young and overcome the obstacles and resistances you now experience. All it needs is guidance toward your North Star to create a life you love. Please consider me your guide if you want to find your soul’s purpose. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
